Study Challenges Supreme Court’s Image as Defender of Free Speech

The New York Times ran a piece this weekend about a study that concludes that the Roberts Supreme Court is ruling in favor of free speech at a lower rate than any of the courts led by the three previous chief justices.  Many First Amendment scholars, including federal anti-SLAPP legislation supporter Erwin Chemerinsky, discuss the findings of the study.

“The Roberts court’s overall record,” Professor Chemerinsky wrote, “suggests that it is not a free speech court at all.”
